“Lindboe felt a restlessness stirring & he
decided to answer the call. He wanted to
get back to his roots; he wanted to rediscover
his genuine love for photography.
Mr. Cool Under the Collar Tom Lindboe has yet to find a challenge he hasn’t thoroughly enjoyed embracing. Two years ago, while at the height of his successful 20+ year studio career in Copenhagen where he is known for his clean graphic style of celebrity portraiture, product & car photography, Lindboe felt a restlessness stirring and he decided to answer the call. He wanted to get back to his roots; he wanted to rediscover his genuine love for photography. So what did he do? He reconnected with his love of nature and decided he would step out of the studio and into the world, bringing with him his technical know-how, his detail-oriented vision, and his acquired sense of lighting and framing that comes from spending years in the studio.
First thing he did… he took a trip to Scotland to photograph the beautiful landscapes AND to enroll in a safety training course, at his own expense, that would allow him to board oil rigs and other deep ocean vessels. When he says he’s going to make a change, he isn’t kidding. He knew that having this certification would make him all that much more attractive to potential clients such as Maersk, a large Danish company. After some seriously intense training, Lindboe was certified and aboard Navy ships, shipping vessels and oil rigs, photographing industrial wonders amidst the enormity of the sea. He had found his new spark.
It wasn’t long and Tom was climbing to the top of wind turbine or spending days out in the Gulf of Mexico on oilrigs photographing annual reports for Maersk. He has been able to successfully transpose his classic Nordic graphic style from the studio to a new engulfing environment. And now, he’s packed up the studio in Denmark and made the move to NYC where he’s quickly developing an impressive client list.
